NEWS.am remind readers that on July 12, 2009, the Taraf newspaper published a document on Liquidating the Justice and Development Party and the Islamic Union led by Fatullah Gülen. The document was signed by Colonel Dursun Çiçek. According to the document, the Tactical Department of the Joint Staff worked out a program of liquidating the ruling party led by Premier Recep Erdoğan and the Islamic Union led by Fatullah Gülen, as they are allegedly trying to make Turkey an Islamic state. The response was soon given: both the Turkish Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Joint Staff are denying the existence of the document, viewing it as insult to the Turkish armed forces. Investigation is under way.
