
Republican media tycoon Michael R. Bloomberg becomes a third-term Mayor of New York.
Electoral Committee informs that out of 97% of poll stations, Bloomberg received 51% of votes. The Democratic nominee William C. Thompson the New York’s comptroller received 46.2% votes of the citizens, Reuters informs.
R. Bloomberg serves as a Mayor since 2001. Then he was nominated from the Republican Party and the campaign cost him $73m. In the 2005 race he surpassed other candidates by 20% of votes. The 2009 Mayor race cost him $100m.
This time Mr. Bloomberg’s victory was not as convincing as experts have predicted. Presently the capital of the founder of Bloomberg information agency makes up $16bn.
