Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic for Communication and Culture

It is possible that Czech Republic will secede from the European Union, said Petr Hajek, Deputy Head of Czech Republic Presidential Administration, Vest TV informs Nov. 5.

According to Hajek the Republic’s independence is exposed once the Lisbon Treaty comes into effect. Czech President Vaclav Klaus has signed the document on Nov. 3, 2009. Hajek maintains that one of the key interests of the President is to restore the country’s sovereignty and to achieve this goal he is ready to take decisive steps and if necessary will withdraw the Republic from the EU, Vesti says.
