Goalkeeper of FC Hannover 96 (Germany) Robert Enke, 32, committed suicide and died hit by a train late on Nov. 10.

“The first police indications are that it was a suicide,” German police statement reads.

The incident was a real shock for the German Football Federation (DFB).

The Daily Mail e-source quotes Police spokesperson Stefan Wittke as saying, “At 6.25pm (5.25pm GMT) he was run over by a regional express train running between Hamburg and Bremen. The train was travelling at the speed of 160kph (100mph).”

According to the source, “Enke was reportedly 'unstable' prior to his death, according to Hanover president Martin Kind, and had found it difficult to cope following the death of his two-year-old daughter Lara of a heart ailment in 2006.”
