The Simon Wiesenthal Center considers Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to be the main culprit in the intensifying hatred against Jews in Turkey. The Jewish organization plans actions of protest.
The Turkish Vakit website reported that the organization is sending out numerous letters to Premier Erdogan’s office and to the Head Office of the ruling Justice and Development Party. Millions of letters are also sent from false e-mails.
Simon Wiesenthal Center urged other Jewish organizations to join the action aimed to put an end to the anti-Jewish campaign in Turkey.
An article entitled “Turkey and Iran embrace…” on the website refers to some posters. One of them hung up at a shop reads: “Child-killer Jews, do not enter!” This is with Turkish Premier Recep Edrogan and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad embracing in the background. The Simon Wiesenthal Center website is full of hatred against Turks.
A letter sent to Turtkey says in particular: “If the recent events are left without response, anti-Semitism, violence and terror will intensify, there will arouse doubts about Turkey’s friendship with Jews.”
The Israeli Ambassador to Turkey attempted a “tour of friendship”, but met with actions of protest and insults.
