Afghan President to fight against corruption

Newly appointed Afghan President Hamid Karzai pledged he would fight against corruption in the country during his November 19 inauguration speech.

He also stated that his government would do its utmost to implement reforms.

“Those who spread corruption should be tried and prosecuted. Corruption is a very dangerous enemy of the state,” Irish breakingnews.ie website quotes the President.

Many high rank officials, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, UK and French Foreign Ministers David Miliband and Bernard Kouchner, as well as NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen attended the ceremony.
