“It is has become a practice for the Azerbaijani side to make statements on the threshold of each Armenian-Azerbaijani presidential meeting in order to hinder progress,” RA Deputy Foreign Minister Shavrash Kocharyan stated, commenting on the latest statements made by his Azeri counterpart Araz Azimov.
Responding to NEWS.am’s question, Sh. Kocharyan pointed out that, according to Azimov’s idea of international law, Azerbaijan was right when it organized ethnic cleansing and unleashed a war against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, involving mercenaries of terrorist organizations, which claimed thousands of lives and caused huge material damage. And now Azerbaijan is making vain attempts to lay the responsibility on the Armenian sides.
“As long as Azerbaijani officials go on making militant statements and sowing national hatred, refusing to admit the fact that, under international law, it is the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, rather than the powers that be in Azerbaijan, that have the right to determine the country’s status, it is obvious they are making use of the negotiation process to disguise their propaganda,” Sh. Kocharyan said.
