Georgia and the European Union (EU) have signed an agreement on relaxation of visa regulations. The new regulations will apply to businessmen, students and journalists, as well as to citizens having close relatives in the EU member-states. The agreement will take effect nine months after the moment of signing.

The EU can sign a similar agreement with Armenia as well, but it will not apply to such a wide contingent of citizens.
