YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan pledged to prevent all violations during the country’s forthcoming National Assembly elections.

According to him, despite the political decision to hold the elections in compliance with the international standards, there could be individuals who wish to circumvent the law.

“When the matter of personal interests is raised, there certainly could be found people who would provide lip service. But the Police will operate in accordance with the requirements of the law and become a ‘cold shower’ for any kind of adventurists,” Gasparyan assured to news reporters on Friday.

“I want to assure that the elections will be noble and fair, and I believe their results will bring us very close to Europe,” Armenia’s Police Chief stated.

Responding to the query on making corrections in the voters’ lists, Gasparyan accepted the existing problems that have accumulated over the years. Nonetheless, he assured that the Police will carry out an extensive supervision.

And speaking about the election violation publications in the press, Armenia’s Chief of Police noted that everything must be substantiated.
