YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican Party of Armenia and coalition members Prosperous Armenia are going neck-and-neck, Russian survey shows.

All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion presented on Friday the results of the public opinion poll ordered by the Armenian Shant television.

The survey showed that 39% of respondents will vote for Republican Party, 36% - for Prosperous Armenia, the third is Orinats Yerkir – 7%.  Only 6% is ready to vote for the Heritage, 5% - for ARF Dashnaktsutyun, 4% - for Armenian National Congress bloc, 3% - for the Communist Party, 1% - for the United Armenians and 0% - for Democratic Party.

The public opinion poll was conducted among 1600 respondents throughout Armenia from April 4 to 13.

The respondents were also asked which party is more active during the election campaign. Sixty- nine percent pointed out Republican Party, 65% - Prosperous Armenia, 27% - Orinats Yerkir, 11% - ARFD, 5% - Heritage, 3% - Armenian National Congress bloc, 2% - Communist Party, 1% - United Armenians and Democratic Party.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
