YEREVAN. – If balloons in the Republic Square were filled with hydrogen instead of helium, small spark was enough to cause huge blast, expert Gagik Martoyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the Friday’s blast during the political rally-concert.

Asked whether the blast would have been again huge in case balloons were less, the expert said that not quantity but size matters, while the Friday’s blast was due to violation of technical security.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a tragedy occurred during the Armenia’s Republican Party rally and concert held at capital Yerevan city Republic Square on Friday. Hundreds of balloons filled with gas exploded and started to burn. Subsequently, the balloons’ melted rubber fell on the participants.
