On Wednesday, May 09, 2012, Google celebrates the birth anniversary of Howard Carter, the English archaeologist and Egyptologist who is best known  for discovering the tomb of 14th-century BC pharaoh Tutankhamun.  

And marking Carter’s birthday, Google prepared a special homepage doodle in which the archaeologist is depicted looking amazed at the discovered ancient Egyptian treasures.   

The discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun was the greatest in the history of Egyptology, and it aroused a worldwide interest toward Egyptian history.

Howard Carter was born in Kensington, London, May 9, 1873, and he died in the same place on March 2, 1939.
