Ombudsman offers Chief of Police to establish criteria on rallies

YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan generally appraised positively the regulations on the Law on Freedom of Assembly. However, he considers concerning some issues on implementation of the law.

As a result, Andreasyan turned to the Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan on Wednesday presenting his position on the disputable issues. The Ombudsman offers the Chief of Police to discuss all disputable issues and establish and publish concrete criteria, which will provide for real opportunities to avoid undesirable incidents during rallies and violation of human rights.
