The powerful earthquake that hit Turkey’s Van City in 2011 also affected the psychology of the City’s cats. The cats are attempting to commit suicide on a regular basis, said Professor Abuzer Tas, a lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Studies of Van’s Century University, Haberturk of Turkey informs.        

“After the quake that jolted Van, a large number of cats are throwing themselves from heights. Psychological disorders could have formed among the cats as a result of the tremor. They are getting fidgety by remaining in confined areas for a long time, and they are throwing themselves out in order to free themselves,” the Professor said.     

To note, the major earthquakes that hit Van on October 23 and November 9, 2011, had claimed 672 lives and injured more than 6,000 people.
