Silence by Turkish director Rezan Yesilbas won Palme d’Or in Short Films category at the 65th Cannes Festival.

 The prize was granted by the Cinéfondation foundation and the contest jury featuring Jean-Pierre Dardenne (chairman), Arsine Khanjian, Karim Aïnouz, Emmanuel Carrère and Yu Lik-wai.

The contest featured 15 works by young debutants out of 1700 works of representatives of 320 world cinematography schools.

To note, the Turkish director’s summing up speech, when he said at receiving the prize was not translated. He said that the prize is dedicated to all silent women in Turkey.
