YEREVAN.- If the Armenian opposition bloc were confident that the parliamentary elections were rigged, it would have fixed the violations and appealed to the Central Electoral Committee, said committee head.

Tigran Mukuchyan delivered a speech on Tuesday during the session of Constitutional Council dedicated to complaint filed by the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc.

The defendant presented counterarguments noting that ANC’s petition is based on assertions, not facts.

“ANC had representatives at 73% out of 1982 precincts but we have received only 12 claims to recount the votes, four of them were presented by ANC bloc,” he said.

Mukuchyan labeled as groundless ANC’s assertions that pressure had been inserted against the representatives of the opposition bloc.

“They had to appeal to the relevant agencies,” he emphasized.

The opposition bloc of political parties has applied to the Constitutional Court in connection with the disagreement over the decision reached by the results of the Armenian National Assembly’s proportional-system election
