Hovik Abrahamyan elected Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly

YEREVAN.- Hovik Abrahamyan is elected Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly by 102 votes. He was the only candidate for the post.  

The members of opposition Heritage Party and Armenian National Congress were absent during the first session of newly elected parliament.

ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group boycotted elections of speaker.

Earlier, head of ruling Republican Party’s faction Galust Sahakyan offered candidacies of Eduard Sharmazanov and Hermine Naghdalyan as deputy speakers.
