TBILISI. – Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian, who is Primate of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, consecrated on June 2 the newly-built Holy Gospel Armenian Chapel in Karmir village of Georgia’s Marneuli District.

The Chapel was built by the initiative of the village resident Vilik Khachaturyan, with assistance by the villagers and Diocesan Headquarters.

Guests from Armenia, Tbilisi and other regions, as well as Georgian President’s advisor Van Bayburtyan were on hand at the event, the Diocese informed Armenian News-NEWS.am

The Holy Gospel Chapel is the sole functioning place of worship of Marneuli’s eight Armenian villages, but the Diocesan Headquarters is hopeful that churches and chapels will reopen and be founded in the other villages, too.
