YEREVAN.- Armenia praises high Austria’s balanced position on the Karabakh conflict settlement and firmness in assisting Armenia’s aspiration to peaceful resolution of the conflict, President Sargsyan said.

Armenian leader and his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer discussed the Karabakh peace process and the Armenia’s approaches to problems and situation in the South Caucasus.

At a press conference following the meeting, the Presidents said they had touched upon the issues related to energy projects as well.

“I think we agreed on the point that energy projects should promote, not interfere with the balance in the region. Energy projects must not become a financing source for a new war in a fragile region,” President Sargsyan stressed. According to him, the side shared the view that blockade and closed borders are unacceptable in Europe of the 21st century.
