YEREVAN. – Armenia’s rescuers stand ready to render assistance to the people of Georgia in eliminating the aftermaths of the floods in that country, Emergency Situations Ministry Rescue Service Deputy Chief Nikolay Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am and added: “But we still we have not received any request [from Georgia].”    

To note, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili had cut short his visit to the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, due to the floods that ravaged western Georgia.  

The heavy rainfall in the villages nearby Georgia’s Zugdidi city caused floods and damaged roads and bridges. Seven villages are ravaged. Rescuers and special equipment are dispatched to the disaster zone.
