Francesco Schettino, the captain of the Costa Concordia cruise ship, which went down in January, announced himself to be the savior of the ship.

He told his lawyer that he had behaved absolutely correctly after the ship had hit the cliff. According to him, he had given three right orders during the accident. He had ordered to close the airtight doors, to keep the rudder straight and had sent the crew member to be ready to anchor if necessary. His last move which had been to stop the ship directed towards the shore without having anchored he described as extraordinary which he was able to do due to his skills and good knowledge of the see.

According to him, due to that move the ship escaped further damage, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports. To note, Costa Concordia cruise ship which was carrying 4,200 people, ran aground near the Giglio Island on January 14.
