YEREVAN. – Parisian Coffee Company’s former owner, French-Armenian businesswoman Valerie-Ashkhen Gortzounian still awaits capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan to keep his promise to the effect that Parisian Coffee’s open air section would reopen, Aravot daily writes.

‘“Mr. Mayor personally said the Parisian’s summer section would open two months after cleaning up Abovyan Street [from the kiosks], but [later] he permitted its opening solely underneath the wall yet he still does not permit [its opening] on the street part,’ Ms. Gortzounian told Aravot.

[And] Learning that the Mayor had permitted Transport and Communication Minister [and former Yerevan Mayor] Gagik Beglaryan’s brother to open a café on Abovyan Street—and at the same place of the disassembled kiosks—, Ms. Gortzounian became more disappointed.

‘[Only] A naïve Diaspora Armenian thinks that the Mayor would honor his word. It is difficult for me to say whether Yerevan Mayor is free in his decisions, or whether the oligarchs allow him to move freely for their politicized interests,’” Aravot writes.
