YEREVAN.- Armenia’s police confiscated about 3 kg of marijuana in the first half of 2012.

The department on combat against drug trafficking said 2999 grams (6083 grams in 2011) was confiscated.

The volume of confiscated opium has increased reaching 2442 grams this year as compared to 907 in the first half of 2011.

Police also found 0.32 grams of cocaine (2.11 grams in 2011), 4.65 grams of heroin (550 grams last year). Among the confiscated drugs are hashish, morphine, codeine, methadone, omnopon, buprenorphine.

Opium and amphetamine is mainly imported from Iran by land and air routes, heroin in small quantities is imported from Turkey. The report also said the volume of synthetic drug subutex which is imported from France has recently increased.
