Armenian Government to reimburse salary debts for regional school

YEREVAN. – Armenian Government will reimburse the salary debt of the Gyumri No. 15 school teachers, amounting to AMD 5.3 million. The money covers the two-month salary for the staff of 60 people.

The reason was the following: No. 36 school teacher Susanna Mryan has saved lots of children in the 1988 earthquake and became disabled as a result. She claimed for compensation. Later the No. 36 School joined to No. 15 School in Gyumri. Hence, the judge decided that the No. 15 school should compensate the teacher as the follower of the No. 36. At the same time the Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service of the Ministry of Justice has seized the money, while the rest of the teachers were left without salary.
