This year’s liturgy in Armenian Surb Khach church on Akhtamar Island will take place on September 9.

Vice Governor of Van province held a meeting with those responsible for organization of religious ceremony in Surb Khach church, IHA agency reports.

Vice Governor Atay Uslun said the liturgy is scheduled for 11 am on September 9.

The first ceremony after a 95-year break was held in the Armenian church on September 11, 2010. The ceremony brought many tourists to Turkey’s Van province which resulted in Turkish authorities’ decision to continue with the upkeep and the expanding of the lighting grid at Akhtamar Island of Van Province.
