TBILISI. – Armenian alpinist Andranik Miribyan, who has climbed the Ushba Mount, has been waiting for rescuers for two days, and he is not sure the aid will ever arrive.

He has contacted his relatives and said that his situation is deteriorating due to heavy snow, while food and water are running out. Miribyan has contacted Georgian and Armenian rescue services and asked to send a helicopter, as it is very dangerous to send rescuer-alpinists. At the same time, the alpinist is not assured that the helicopter will arrive even in case of favorable weather conditions.

“I am ready to stay even for a week, if I am sure the helicopter will arrive. Otherwise I have to make decisions, anyway, I am going to take a risky step, trying to go down on Saturday early in the morning. The more the rescuers waste time, the more it becomes dangerous for me to go down,” the Armenian alpinist said.
