YEREVAN.- The recent earthquake in Iran was followed by 80 aftershocks, 30 of them were felt in Armenia.

Askhen Tovmasyan, deputy head of Armenian National Seismic Protection Service, spoke about strong earthquakes registered in neighboring states - Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran.

The recent quake in northwestern Iran killed 300 and injured over 3,000 people, 80 settlements were destroyed.

“The quake was followed by 80 aftershocks, 30 of them were felt in Armenia. Three tremors were measured at magnitude 5 and above, the last one struck Iran on Tuesday evening. However, our research shows seismic activity has slowed down. Bigger earthquake is not expected,” she told reporters on Wednesday.
