STEPANAKERT. – In line with the data provided by the Consular Service of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) MFA, a total of 10,667 foreign tourists have visited NKR this year as of Tuesday.

This number was 3,723 in July, as compared with 2,165 in July 2011, and 3,124, from August 1 to Tuesday, as compared with 2,870 in August 2011.

A total of 3,820 foreign nationals visited NKR in the first six months of this year, and this number surpasses by 874—or by 29.6 percent—the indicator for the same time period in 2011. In the case when NKR’s ten-thousandth visitor last year entered the country in October, this year’s ten-thousandth visitor already arrived in early August.

And despite the obstacles placed by Azerbaijan’s authorities, the number of tourists visiting Karabakh from all continents is growing on a yearly basis. It is not a coincidence that the territory is being included more often in the ratings for the world’s most appealing tourist spots.

The visiting foreigners are fascinated by NKR’s ancient historical monuments, beautiful nature, healthy ecological environment, and by the friendliness and hospitality of its people.
