An earthquake, measuring 5.1, struck southern Iran in the early morning hours of Thursday. 

The epicenter of the underground shaking, which was registered at 6:27am local time, was located 64 kilometers southwest of the city of Lar, the US Geological Survey website informs.   

The tremor’s hypocenter was 39.6 kilometers beneath the surface, RIA Novosti News Agency of Russia reports.    

There are no reports on any possible casualties or devastation.

To note, Iran is among the list of top-ten countries of the world’s most seismically-active regions.
