YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan, on Thursday received members of the men’s national chess team, led by their head coach Arshak Petrosyan.

Ohanyan congratulated the masters of chess for being crowned third-time champions at the 40th World Chess Olympiad, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey. 

At the end of the meeting, the Minister awarded the Andranik Ozanian Medal to Armenian chess heroes Levon Aronian, Vladimir Akopian, Tigran Petrosian, Gabriel Sargissian and head coach Arshak Petrosyan, and he presented the Garegin Nzhdeh Medal to team member Sergei Movsesian, MOD press service informs.   

To note, aside from becoming the World Chess Olympiad champion for a third time, Armenian men’s national team is also a three-time bronze medalist in this event.
