TBILISI. - "Yerkir” Union of Public Organizations on repatriation and development released a statement in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for Oct. 1.

The election process in Javakhk proceeds in its consistent policy of the Georgian authorities flouting of basic political and civil rights of the Javakhk Armenians. In particular, there is a norm which prohibits establishment of regional political organizations. According to it, political parties presenting the interests of the Armenian population are devoid of registration and participation in the elections, the statement sent to the Armenian News-NEWS.am reads.

Hence, the Armenian population in Javakhk currently has no opportunity to fully participate in the election processes anyway, as it is devoid of the right to express political will and build its future through free, fair and competitive elections.
