One day after the Armenians’ demonstration Tuesday in front of the Azerbaijani embassy in Paris—and in protest against Ramil Safarov’s extradition and subsequent pardon—a Social Democratic Hunchakian Party member received an anonymous telephone call threatening to set the party’s Alfortville office on fire. The caller spoke in Armenian, Nouvelles d’Arménie monthly of France reports.

And, in this connection, the party issued a statement.

“Such thing is unacceptable. Scaring a party member, or threatening an office, means attacking on the party. Nothing can deviate the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party from its mission of working in the name of the Armenian people. We will square accounts with the criminal,” the party’s statement reads in particular.

To note, the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party is one of the oldest Armenian political parties. It was founded in 1887 in Geneva, Switzerland. This year the party celebrates its 125th anniversary.
