YEREVAN. – A 4.3-magnitude earthquake was registered in northwestern Iran, in the vicinity of Tabriz city, on Sunday at 9:40am, Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

The tremor’s hypocenter was 10.1 kilometers beneath the surface, and it was felt in southern Armenia, specifically in Syunik Region.   

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake was registered on Saturday morning in northwestern Iran. US Geological Survey said the epicenter was located 96 kilometers from Tabriz city and its hypocenter was ten kilometers beneath the surface.

The tremors were felt in Armenia’s south, in particular, in Kapan city.

As reported earlier, four quakes measured 6.2 to 6.6 had jolted Iran’s northwest near the Armenian border on August 11. The quake killed 306 and injured 5,000 people in East Azerbaijan province. A 4.5-magnitude tremor was registered in Armenia’s south and 3-4 magnitude in capital Yerevan. The quake caused panic and made people leave their houses in southern Armenia. No casualties and destruction was reported in the territory of Armenia.
