YEREVAN. – Ireland is the leader of using internet, 95 percent of Irish population uses internet, the Broadband Commission for Digital Development of the UN Commission by the UNESCO and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) report reads.

The report in particular deals with the fixed broadband connection and its availability in various regions of the world. The report also claims that 2.26 billion people worldwide have access to the internet.

At the same time, 50 percent of people in Azerbaijan use internet, followed by Kazakhstan (45 percent) and Belarus (39.6 percent). As for the broadband connection, Liechtenstein with 71.6 percent is the leader, while France with 36.1 percent occupied the seventh place.

At the same time broadband connection in Azerbaijan makes 10.7 percent, in Ukraine 7 and in Armenia 5 percent. The authors of the report also claim that in Armenia 19.5 percent of population had household Internet access last year. 

As for mobile broadband, Singapore is the leader, while Russia occupies the seventies place. ITU also claims that half of the earth will have access to the internet by 2015.
