YEREVAN.- The pace of development for Armenia-EU relations will depend on quality of the upcoming presidential elections, head of EU delegation to Armenia Traian Hristea told reporters on Monday.

EU representative said relations are developing in several directions -- agreements on readmission and relaxation of visa requirements were initialed, while talks on association agreement and free trade area are being held.

The EU is acting in accordance with its “more for more” principle and Armenia has been already applying it.

“The Union assists Armenia in holding transparent and democratic elections and has allocated 1.7 million euro for this purpose,” Hristea added.

Speaking about the May parliamentary elections, Ambassador noted progress was registered but more results are needed.

The Union expects that all recommendations mentioned in OSCE/ODIHR report will be taken into account.

Armenia’s presidential elections in are scheduled for next February.
