YEREVAN.- Head of the EU delegation to Armenia Traian Hristea rated high Armenian leadership’s determination to deepen reforms.

Talking to reporters on Monday, Hristea said talks on two agreements, namely on readmission and relaxation of visa regime, are completed, the documents are initialed. As reported earlier, the documents will come into effect starting from the second half of 2013. Talks on association agreement and free trade area continue. Hristea expressed hope the agreements would not remain ink on paper.

Noting that the agreement on visa facilitation applies to large groups of Armenian society, the Ambassador said that this shows the policy on Armenia-EU convergence affects common citizens.

The agreement on visa facilitation will be applied for relatives, members of official delegations, students, participants in sporting events, experts participating in various conferences and cultural events, people going to Europe for treatment, in some emergency cases (for example, the death of relative), drivers (truckers), businessmen, journalists and accompanying technical staff, representatives of NGOs, as well, given the specificity of the Armenian state and the presence of the Diaspora, participants of Pan-Armenian and community programs.

For all categories, except for those exempted from paying visa fee, a price of 35 euros was set. Visa allows stay in the Schengen area for 90 days every 180 days.

Certain categories are exempted from visa fee - pensioners, children under 12, journalists, people with disabilities and their attendants, members of official delegations, students, participants in international sports and all-Armenian or community events, representatives of science.

In addition, numerous categories will have an opportunity to get multiple-entry long-term visa.
