YEREVAN. – The 17th International Astronomy Olympiad was held in Gwangju, South Korea, from October 17 to Tuesday, and schoolchildren from Armenia likewise competed at the event.

As a result, the six children who represented the country brought home four medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze.

The gold medal was won by the capital city Yerevan’s Special School for Physics and Mathematics student Gevorg Martirosyan, who was also awarded a special diploma for the highest result achieved at the Olympiad. State Engineering University of Armenia High School student Arsen Aslanyan received a silver medal, and the Physics and Mathematics school’s students Vardges Mambreyan and Siranush Babakhanova won bronze medals, the Education and Science Ministry press service informs.
