ETCHMIADZIN. – The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, presided over a requiem mass that was offered on Saturday and at the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The mass was devoted to the memories of Gurgen Margaryan—the Armenian army officer who was axed to death in his sleep by an Azerbaijani soldier in Budapest back in 2004—and of those Armenian Government and Parliament members who were killed in the tragedy that occurred at the National Assembly on October 27, 1999.

At the end of the requiem mass, the Catholicos addressed those present and reflected on the implications of these two terrible events, Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin informs.

Karekin II asked the people to always remember these fallen sons of the Armenian nation in their prayers, so that their memory and dedicated service may become a beam for the Armenian life. Also, the Catholicos asked the Holy Spirit to comfort the families of the victims.
