YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) National Seismic Protection Service recorded a 5.7-magnitude earthquake on Friday at 3:58am local time. Its epicenter was in Iran, 44 kilometers northwest of Ahar city, MES press service informs.  

The tremor’s hypocenter was fifteen kilometers beneath the surface, and it measured 6 at the epicenter area.

In line with preliminary information, the underground shaking was also felt in a number of Armenia’s inhabitations, specifically in Kajaran and Kapan cities where it measured magnitude 2-3.
