YEREVAN.- Syrian Armenians are exempt from paying state duty to get a passport.

The government decided on Thursday to exempt Armenians wishing to get or change their passport from paying state duties if there is emergency situation in the country of their residence which is threatening their life or health.

The state duty totals about $160 (AMD 65,000) which is problematic for many Syrian Armenians.
