YEREVAN.- U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrated on December 3.

Ambassador Heffern was joined by a group of Armenian artists with disabilities who were invited to his residence on November 30, as part of a broader program to celebrate the work and creative talent of artists with disabilities and special needs. The artists helped decorate Ambassador’s residence in Yerevan.

Greeting the guests, he congratulated all on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and thanked the artists for their talent and creativity, for bringing much color to his living room.

December 3rd is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and the reception held at the Ambassador’s residence brought together a diverse group of individuals representing a wide range of Armenian society engaged in the recognition, appreciation of and assistance to the community of Armenians with disabilities and special needs. Bringing these groups together will help to make the question of people with disabilities more visible here in Armenia and help focus the attention of interested parties to promote accessibility and remove barriers to their participation in broader society, says the statement issued by the Embassy.
