Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan’s working visit to the United States kicked off on December 8.

On the first day of his stay, Sargsyan visited the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he met with Caltech President Jean-Lou Chameau. They discussed the prospects for cooperation, and reflected on the development of the Information Technology (IT) sector in Armenia.

US House of Representatives member Adam Schiff, who likewise was on hand at the meeting, expressed a view that Armenia has a lot of potential to become the Silicon Valley of the Caucasus.

Next, Armenia’s PM met with the Armenian graduates and students of Caltech, and with US-based Armenian scientists. The discussants reflected on the prospects for development in natural and exact sciences. Also, Tigran Sargsyan encouraged those present to strengthen their ties with the homeland, Armenia, and to contribute to the development of science in the country.

Armenian Premier’s working visit to the US will continue until Wednesday.
