YEREVAN.- Relations between Armenia and EU are developing for a ling time and can improve as the both sides are interested in it, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov stated Friday in Yerevan.

He said the EU is strategically interested in development of the region, while joint efforts will help to fulfill0 this goal.

In his turn, Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski recalled that Poland and Sweden initiated the Eastern Partnership project. He noted that signing of the agreement to relax visa requirements is scheduled for December 17. Sikorski urged Armenia to step up effort to finalize talks on the Association Agreement by the time of Eastern Partnership Summit scheduled for next November. He hailed the talks on creation of free trade area with the EU.

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt called Armenia a European country “but situated in the part of Europe having its own complexities.”  He also informed of the meetings in Baku and Tbilisi during which many issues were discussed. Asked about the progress of Eastern Partnership member-states, the diplomat expressed hope that Armenia, Moldova and, probably, Georgia will be ready to sign the Association Agreement by the time of Vilnius summit.
