BAKU. – The number of Armenians living in Azerbaijan increases, at least Azerbaijani statesmen claim this. The allegedly 30,000 Armenians living throughout Azerbaijan, is not so astonishing already, however, the number turns to be true only for the capital city.

According to Vesti.Az, a group of 30 Armenians turned to the Migration Center of Azerbaijan recently and asked to be issued with an identity card.

“Citizens of the Armenian nationality have been issuing identity cards or passports for a long time. It is no more news. They are citizens of Azerbaijan just like all and there is no logic in refusing them,” the Ministry of Interior Affairs statement reads.

However, Azerbaijan admits that Armenians remained in Azerbaijan were forced to change their Armenian surnames.
