The Chairman of the Public Council for Foreign Policy and Security of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Masis Mayilyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am that the OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is not effective enough.

According to him, on the other hand, it must be recognized that efforts to maintain the ceasefire, the regular announcements of presidents and foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs stressing there is no alternative to peaceful resolution of the problem, play a moderating role.

Answering the question of what mechanisms can be used to strengthen the ceasefire, Masis Mayilyan noted that there is a fairly long list of proposals on confidence-building measures, which were at one time developed in the Nagorno Karabakh Foreign Ministry and handed over to mediators.

“There were attempts by OSCE to implement some of the proposed ideas. But the problem is not the scarcity of proposals and recommendations, but the lack of political will of the leadership in Azerbaijan,” the Chairman of the Public Council concluded.
