A group of journalists have turned to the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan with an open letter, requesting to look into a behavior of MPs Mher Sedrakyan (with a nickname Tokhmakhi Mher) and Samvel Aleksanyan (with a nickname Lfik Samo), who are gaining attention for their cynical behavior.

“Dear Mr. Abrahamyan,

In the parliament that you are chairing today, there are notorious MPs, who show disrespectful behavior toward the journalists. Take, for example, the latest incident, when a member of Armenian Republican Party group Mher Sedrakyan, aka Tokhmakhi Mher, has talked disrespectfully to Mher Arshakyan, a journalist of ‘A1+’ threatening:

‘Move, move, move, I’ll hit you so that your chin will be off!’ (By the way, all this is videotaped).

We ask you to correct Mher Sedrakyan’s, as well as Samvel Aleksanyan’s behavior, who speak to the journalists, who work in the Parliament, in an intimidating manner.

We request a political assessment of the event, and an announcement of a warning to Mher Sedrakyan, and a public apology to the reporter from him,” the letter reads.
