The Armenian community in Syria exists since a very long time, and the calls that are made to them to leave the country are not ethical, the Russian State Duma’s Armenian MP Semyon Baghdasarov told Yerkramas newspaper of the Russian Armenians.

“Today they are suffering just as much as the other Syrians. The calls that are made to them to leave the country are unethical, not to mention technically unfeasible. Syria is their second homeland,” Baghdasarov said.

Also, he stated that the Syrian Armenians need to take up arms and defend their homeland and the majority of them are doing just that, together with the other Christians of Syria.

“It is bizarre, but the US and the European countries, which are considered Christian, assist those forces in Syria that attempt to destroy Christianity in its historical homeland. I am particularly disturbed by the similarity with Iraq. We saw that the Christian communities were flourishing during the reign of dictator Saddam, but they were destroyed by the pro-American forces that came to power after him,” the Russian State Duma member noted.
