YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a New Year and Christmas reception, on Monday at the Presidential Palace, for representatives of the country’s business community. The president congratulated those present, on the occasion of the coming holidays, and wished them success.

In his remarks, Sargsyan spoke about the results of 2012 and stressed that the passing year will come to a close with a completely fulfilled state budget, the President’s Press Office informs. Also, he extended his thanks to the businessmen for their current activities and initiatives, together with their results, and for their cooperation throughout the year.

“The efforts to create a comfortable business climate will be ongoing and consistent. Our objective is to turn Armenia into a secure, stable environment—in terms of conducting business—that is characterized by the rule of law for the businessman and the investor. The result should be substantive, visible, and tangible. We will continue to modernize the tax and customs systems, [and] the role of the fair judicial system will become substantial.

For us it is important that each new year be more productive than the previous, that it be without social and political commotion, and it increases the benefits to our country and people. The government-business discourse and cooperation will continue likewise in the future,” the President of Armenia noted.
