A 5.6-magnitute earthquake hit the environs of Sochi, Russia, but no damage or casualties are reported. It was felt in downtown Sochi at 2:45am.  

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations informed that the epicenter of the quake was 154 kilometers south of Sochi, in the territory of Abkhazia, and it measured 5.2. The underground shakings were felt in Sochi and Tuapse, Russia, BFM.RU reports.     

The tremor caused panic among Sochi residents, Aif informs.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Black Sea, 35 kilometers away from the coast of Georgia. Two tremors were felt in Abkhazia, at 2:45 am and 2:56am. The residents of Georgia felt underground shakings at 2:43am, Kavkazskiy Uzel reports.    

To note, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake, whose hypocenter was ten kilometers below the Black Sea, was recorded on December 23, 31 kilometers away from the coast of Sukhumi, Abkhazia. It measured 6 at the epicenter, but no damage or casualties were reported. This tremor was felt in Armenia, too.
