YEREVAN. – There is no formal document with respect to leasing the grazing lands of Syunik Region to Iran, Armenia’s Deputy PM and Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan said during a press conference on Friday.

To note, there were media reports, according to which the aforesaid grazing lands are to be allocated to Iranian farmers for five years, and to keep 5,000 livestock. The source of this information is IRNA News Agency of Iran. According to the report, in return for the grazing lands, Iran will provide agricultural equipment to, and set up a meat processing facility in, Armenia.

As per Gevorgyan, such ideas do exist, as different investors offer a variety of programs, but there is no document concerning Syunik Region in particular.

“Armenia needs all its grazing lands, and we will do everything to make maximum use of them,” the Deputy PM noted.
